Type/Variety: Dionaea muscipula – carnivorous plant.
Leaves/Traps: Each leaf has lobes that snap shut when triggered by insects. Hair-like sensors inside the trap detect movement.
Growth: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight or partial sun; high humidity is beneficial.
Soil & Water: Requires nutrient-poor, acidic soil (like sphagnum moss or a peat-sand mix) and distilled or rainwater only.
Feeding: Catches insects for nutrients; does not need fertilizer.
Dormancy: Needs a winter dormancy period with cooler temperatures to survive long-term.
Toxicity: Non-toxic to humans and pets, but not edible.
